<h3>I Went from a Size 22 to a Size 14!!</h3>
<p>&#8220;Last year around November my weight topped out at 210lbs. I was feeling miserable and resigning myself to the fact I would be that big forever. I was getting stress fractures on my feet from the excess weight I was carrying. I finally had enough and emailed Mikey for help. It was exactly that; in the subject header I put &#8220;HELP!!!!&#8221; We&#8217;ve known each other for a long time and he&#8217;s seen me at my smallest and now it was just the opposite. I asked him what I could do to get rid of this weight. I started on this new journey to lose this excess weight and the first week I lost 10 lbs!! The second week I lost 7lbs and the third week I lost about 5lbs. By the end of December <strong>I had lost 30 lbs!!</strong> I couldn&#8217;t believe it!! My metabolism shot through the roof and I wasn&#8217;t as winded when I did things. Another thing; I have asthma, so when I lost this excess weight I had a hard time breathing. As I lost the weight, my symptoms subsided. 				<p><strong>Your Acworth Gym is ready for 2012!</strong></p>
<p>Perhaps you didn&#8217;t quite reach your goals  in 2011.  That&#8217;s OK.  A new year means a fresh start.  But don&#8217;t just go into the gym and &#8220;wing it&#8221;.  It&#8217;s important to come to your Acworth gym with a plan in place, including your nutrition strategies.  Here is your game plan:</p>
<p>1. <strong>Nutrition</strong> &#8211; Whether you use Weight Watchers, Low-Carb, Intermittent Fasting, Calorie Cycling, etc., etc., you need to find a plan you can stick with.  If you need some help, you can read this post on my blog</p>

<p>But the bottom line is that you need to find something that fits your unique lifestyle.  The media claims you need to eat 6 meals a day in order to lose weight, but that is simply not the case.  However, if you enjoy prepping for 6 meals a day, then go for it.  You must find what works for you.  Do one thing better each week.  For example, remove the soda and replace that with water or some other zero calorie drink.  Take baby steps for long term success.</p>
<p>2. <strong>Use Metabolic Resistance Training &#8211; </strong>By using big, compound movements, you burn more calories both during and after a workout.  That is the real &#8220;secret&#8221; to weight loss.</p>

<p>Anyway, I wanted to help clear some of the confusion when it comes to selecting a personal trainer.   Some trainers who have a 4-year degree in exercise science and numerous certifications may not connect well with people and can come across as very intimidating.  If you don&#8217;t connect with your trainer, you will end up not showing up to your appointments and dreading your workouts.</p>
<p>Not cool.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve gotten 4 certifications including a nutrition certification, but to be honest, I don&#8217;t even use the nutrition certification.  Yep, I said those words.   I have used an array of nutrition approaches with different clients because we are all different.  That&#8217;s a post for another day.</p>
<p><strong>What to Look For When Choosing a Personal Trainer:</strong></p>
<p><strong>1) Be sure they are certified</strong> &#8211; There are a million different certifications and they all have their pros and cons.  It&#8217;s hard to distinct between them all, but c&#8217;mon, they need to be certified by some legitimate certifying agency.  Be bold and ask them, &#8220;who are you certified with?&#8221;.  If they are not certified but feel they can train people because they are ripped.  Walk  away.  I once had someone come in the gym and introduce themselves and tell me that they have a great body and can train people.  Yep, seriously.</p>
<p><strong>2) Ask for referrals</strong> &#8211; Do they have a track record?  Ask them if they can provide some testimonialsor someone they can talk to so that they can get some feedback on how much it rocks to work with them.  That way if it doesn&#8217;t rock, you can find out and look for someone else.  I am biased, but our<a title="Trainers" href="http://247freedomfitness.com/dallasgapersonaltrainers/" target="_blank"> trainers</a> rock.  I have gotten to know them for quite some time and they connect with their clients.</p>
<p><strong>3)</strong> <strong>Are they good with people?</strong> &#8211; It&#8217;s simple.  If they chew gum and look around while you introduce yourself or tell them your struggles, they are not the right trainer for you.  This goes the same for trainers who text during client sessions.  Yes, that crap exists and it upsets me.  By the way, if you don&#8217;t even get to meet the trainer before any appointments are set.  RUN.</p>
